Frequently Asked Questions
It can take up to 4 weeks before you actually feel completely comfortable wearing your orthotics all day long. We also suggest you do not wear them for any strenuous physical activity until you feel completely comfortable with wearing your orthotics all the time.
It is normal to feel the orthotics slightly more or differently in one foot than in the other for the first few weeks. Orthotics also have unique properties where you will feel different pressure points and may require additional break-in time in these areas, even if you have previously worn orthotics.
Typically, high-quality prescription orthotics last between two to three years. Custom orthotics are designed to withstand wear and tear from standing and walking, but using them on a daily basis will inevitably result in damage over time.
Your health professional will make either a plaster, foam cast or a 3D digital scan of your feet and then send it to our lab to make the orthotic that will go into your sandals.

To comfortably break in a new orthotic, it’s recommended patients wear it for an hour on day one, two hours on day two, and continuously progress each day so that by the end of the two weeks, they can wear the orthotic comfortably all day.
Orthotics never change the shape of your foot or “train” your feet to function better. For a great comparison, orthotics are similar to prescription eyeglasses. You see better only when you wear them. They don’t change your eyes or permanently fix them hence orthotics are much the same way.
Flat feet in particular can cause misalignment of the ankle which causes joints to connect differently, which can cause misalignment in the knee joint. That can affect your hips, which also affects the way you walk. That affects the spine, especially your lower back.
Orthotics are different. They are prescription medical devices that you wear inside your shoes to correct biomechanical foot issues such as problems with how you walk, stand, or run. They can also help with Shin, knee, hip and lower back conditions potentially caused by a poor foundation of your body that being your feet.
